Monad Wallet Drained? How to Trace Stolen MON & Tokens
Step-by-step guide after a Monad wallet drain — document outbound txs, trace MON and token outflows, and build a $20 incident report on Monad mainnet.
Confirm you are on Monad mainnet
Monad uses EVM-style 0x addresses. Losses on Ethereum, Base, or Arbitrum will not appear on Monad explorers — check the network your wallet displayed when assets left.
- Paste your address into the Monad block explorer your wallet links to.
- Verify chain ID matches Monad mainnet (not a testnet or another EVM L1/L2).
- Copy the first suspicious outbound transaction hash from the Activity tab.
Immediate steps after a Monad drain
- Revoke standing ERC-20 and NFT approvals on Monad via revoke.cash (select Monad network) or your wallet’s permission screen.
- Screenshot is not evidence — copy tx hashes, recipient addresses, and UTC times.
- List every token type that left: native MON, stablecoins, memecoins, NFTs.
- Do not pay crypto upfront to anyone who DMs offering recovery.
How to follow the trail manually
- Open each outbound tx → note To address and internal token transfers.
- Look for labeled exchange hot wallets, bridge contracts, or DEX routers.
- If funds bridged out to Ethereum or another chain, continue on that explorer with the same 0x address.
- Document split flows (multiple recipients in minutes) — common drainer pattern.
When a Tracefunds Monad report helps
Tracefunds indexes public Monad data into a fund-flow graph, labeled destinations when known, verification checklist, and share-safe brief — $20 incident report, no wallet connect.
- Use incident mode with chain=monad on tracefunds.app/analyze.
- $5 single_tx if you only have one suspicious hash to decode first.
- Try the interactive sample case on tracefunds.app/case for the report format before you pay.
Filing with exchanges
If outbound flows hit a labeled CEX deposit pattern, attach hashes and a plain timeline. See our exchange abuse guide for Binance/Coinbase field lists — labels are heuristic, not proven identity.
What tracing cannot do
- No guaranteed freeze or refund at an exchange.
- Off-chain HyperCore or custodial movements are outside EVM tracing.
- Mixers and privacy tools may end the visible path — say so honestly in your report.
